Fire Drill Today

October 20, 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The safety and security of our students and staff are a priority for our school and the Strait Regional School Board. We have been implementing a number of measures as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at ensuring our school remains a safe place for our students to learn.

Today we practiced a fire drill followed by a relocation to our relocation site, the RecPlex. The relocation drill was practiced under the supervision of the RCMP.

Please be assured that staff at our school spend time discussing the importance of these procedures with students prior to conducting the drills. We also take time after a drill to remind them that it was only a practice and there was no danger. Feedback is given to all involved to ensure the drills are conducted properly and efficiently. Please take the time to speak with your child about these procedures and reinforce their importance. We practice these procedures to ensure our school remains a safe place for teaching and learning.

Please contact me if you have any questions about hold-and-secure and lockdown procedures.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Jack MacDonald
